THE ROLE OF PKN TEACHERS IN GROWING CRITICAL LITERACY STUDENTS IN THE DIGITAL ERA

Abstract


The trend of the 21st century directs the lives of all-digital human beings.Starting from teenagers to adults have the same opportunity in accessing information throughthe internet media.The development oftechnology, information, and communication have a bad tendencywhich is hoax news.The dissemination of information that can not be accounted for can cause the error of thinking.Digital natives are particularly vulnerable due to the impact of hoaxes.Digital nativesthat are meant are teenagers who on average still sit school.Teachers as the main actors in schooling have a responsibility in directing learners in dealing with information from the internet.The right teacher in conducting national character building and empowerment of citizens is the teachers of PKn.Teachers of PKn have a paradigm of the field of study that includes civic knowledge, citizenship skills, andcomponent of the character of citizenship.These three paradigms can lead learners to havecriticalliteracy.The ability to understand, analyze, and manage about citizenship will play a role in the learner's activities in the digital age.This paper aims to provide a deeper insight into the role of Civic teachers in fostering criticalliteracy of learners in the digital age.Writing methods used in the preparation of this paper, the library or library research and discussion that discusses comprehensively about the urgency of Civics teachers in the digital era.
