LANGUAGES USED ON RITUAL OF DREADLOCK HAIR SHAVING IN DIENG, WONOSOBO CENTRAL JAVA: CULTURAL VALUE AND CHARACTER BUILDING

Abstract


There is one ritual that is still done today, especially in Dieng, Wonosobo, Central Java is a hairdressing ceremony dreadlock. It is said that a child with dreadlocked hair if when shaving is not with the ritual or ritual that has been required, dreads will grow back. The main requirement is to fulfill the child's wishes. Surprisingly the dreads grow in children in certain areas and do not grow in all the children who live in the place. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the value of culture and character building in the ritual of dreadlock hair shaving in Dieng Wonosobo Central Java. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Researchers use interviews in data collection, the data source is the respondent. Checking the validity of the data is based on the criterion of degree of trust (credibility) with triangulation techniques and observational persistence. The job of data analysis in this case is to organize, sort, group, code, and categorize them.
