Abstract

Coconut wood industry waste is very large in potential, which produces sawdust waste and an unused set at 40% of the yield. The industrial waste can be used as raw material for particle board. However, coconut wood sawdust waste still contains extractives which can reduce the quality of particle board. The study aims to determine the quality of coconut wood waste particle board by material treatment and the amount of urea formaldehyde adhesive (UF). The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with factorial experiments, with the treatment of ingredients (benzene alcohol 5 %, 10 % and control) and adhesive content (5% and 7%) with Tukey's further tests. The parameters observed were density, thickness swelling  and internal stickiness. The results showed the treatment of adhesive levels significantly affected the development of thickness and internal adhesion. The average density value is 0.59 - 0.64 g / cm3, thickness swelling is 10,98 – 13,19 %  and internal internal stickiness is 0.89 - 1.38 kg / cm2. The particle board research results all meet the Indonesian National Standard (SNI).
