PERCEPTION ANALYSIS OF CEPAT MAHIR IN LEARNING ENGLISH VOCABULARY: A CASE OF LOCAL APPLICATION

Abstract


The most important component of learning English is understanding vocabulary. Many students are still lack of understanding English vocabulary for several reasons. They also consider learning English difficult and unpleasant. Therefore, the researchers want to know students’ perception of Cepat Mahir application in learning English vocabulary. Cepat Mahir is local application in attempt to learn English in general including vocabulary. The researchers were curious to find out how was the students’ perception using application made by Indonesian educators in learning English vocabulary. The researchers used questionnaires and interviews to determine student perceptions. This research was conducted at SMP N 1 Kendal for the 2023-2024 academic year with the participants of 31 students from class VII A. The result of this research shows that most of students preferred the using of Cepat Mahir applicationin learning English vocabulary. There are some advantages that can be taken from the use of Cepat Mahir application as in learning English vocabulary, such as they are easy to understand the material, they were more excited and motivated in learning English vocabulary, Cepat Mahir application can eliminate boredom in learning and also encourage them of new idea in learning. It is expected by using the local application, the students’ perceptions will be as excited as non-local ones.
