THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING MULTIMODAL APPROACH IN TEACHING ENGLISH LISTENING COMPREHENSION AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMKS PGRI 2 KEBUMEN IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023
Abstract
Thus, this research aimed to discover whether using a series of treatments of the Multimodal Approach is effective or not in Teaching English listening comprehension at the vocational high school level. This research applied quantitative research using a pre-experimental design. The population of this research is the eleventh-grade students of SMKS PGRI 2 Kebumen in the academic year of 2022/2023 which consists of 55 students. The data were taken from 10th April 2023 until 17th April 2023. The technique of the data collection is using a test. It was done by giving pre-tests and posttests. The result of this research shows that the mean score of the pre-test is 37.25 which belongs to the poor category, and the mean score of the post-test is 64.50 which belongs to the sufficient category. To see whether the hypothesis is accepted or rejected, the researcher uses paired samples T-Test through IBM SPSS 25. Therefore, it can be concluded that Using a Multimodal Approach in teaching English Listening Comprehension is effective at the Eleventh Grade of SMKS PGRI 2 Kebumen in the Academic Year 2022/2023.
