Abstract

The aim of this research is to conduct a systematic review of the literature discussing the influence of the Problem based learning (PBL) learning model on students' critical thinking abilities and motivation to learn mathematics. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method is used to identify, evaluate, and synthesize relevant studies from various academic sources. The review results show that the application of PBL significantly improves students' critical thinking skills, which are characterized by their ability to analyse, evaluate, and solve complex mathematical problems. Apart from that, PBL has also been proven to be effective in increasing students' learning motivation, which is reflected in increasing their active participation and interest in learning mathematics. These findings emphasize the importance of implementing PBL in mathematics education to develop critical thinking skills and motivate students in the learning process. Thus, this review concludes that PBL is an effective learning model for improving students' critical thinking skills and motivation to learn mathematics, but requires planned implementation and adequate support. Recommendations for further research include more in-depth exploration of contributing factors
