Abstract

Tribolium castaneum is secondary pests attacking rice in storage. In certain condition, the pest can develop and cause rice damage and decreasing rice weight without primary pest. This research aimed at knowing the effect of several hulling rice levels and rice pieces on addition population insect and decreasing rice weight by the pest. The research was carried out at the
laboratory of Plant Pests, the Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University from November 2018 up to March 2019. Randomized Block Design was used consisted of nine treatments and repeated three times. The treatment tested were rice with hull degree of 50% (A);with degree of 65% (B); with degree of 80% (C); with degree of 95% (D); with the degree of 50% + hull pieces (E); with degree of 65% (F) + hull pieces; with degree of 80% + hull pieces (G) ; with degree of 95% + hull pieces (H); and Control = husk broken rice (K). Every treatment was infested with 10 pairs of the pest. The result of the research pointed out that the hghest population was resulted by rice hull degree 95% + hull pieces as 207,33 individual pest resulted in highest decreasing rice as 6,27%. The lowest pest population was rice hull degree of 50% as 34 individual pest resulted in the lowest decreasing rice as 0,99%.
