Abstract
This study is aimed to gain a deep understanding about the importance of
infusing the culture of foreign language’s culture in teaching EFL in Indonesia.
English as the first international language is widely used in communication all over
the world in many aspects of life such as in economics, politics, art and culture,
education, and many others. As an international language, English is taught in
many levels of school in Indonesia. English is the first foreign language that
becomes the compulsory subject since the elementary school up to university level.
Teaching English as a foreign language is not an easy task. It may imply to the
teaching of norms and cultures embedded within English language so that the
learners will not only master the English language skills but also understand the
culture of it to develop intercultural communicative competence used to
communicate well with people all around the world especially with English native
speakers.
