Abstract

ABSTRACT
Attending a lecture which employs traditional method tends to make students passive.
They simply sit down, listen, and jot down lecturer’s explanation. Hence, they easily forget the
material since too often they are not engaged to their lecturer. As experts suggest, students learn
best by doing and actively involved in the learning process. This active involvement is called
active learning. Active learning has received considerable attention over the past several years.
This article highlights some aspects on active learning including the definitions, techniques, and
its advantages. By getting to know this method, lecturers/teachers can make use of it in the
classroom to generate fruitful learning.
