Abstract


ABSTRACT
Pronunciation is one of the important components that should be learned by English
learners. The objective the research is to find out whether Cambridge Electronic
Dictionary is effective or not as media to teach pronunciation of pure vowel sounds at
the eleventh grade students of SMK Batik Perbaik Purworejo in the academic year of
2016/2017. The result ofdata computation indicates that the mean score of post-test of
experimental group is higher than the mean score of post-test of control group is
(78.87>71.90). In addition, the result of t-value is 4.81. Then, the researcher consults
the critical value on the t-tabel using 5% (0.05) alpa level significance and the degree
of freedom is 1.697. It means that t-value is higher than t-tabel (4.81>1.697). It can be
concluded that Cambridge Electronic Dictionary is effective as media in teaching to
teach pronunciation of pure vowel sounds at the eleventh grade students of SMK Batik
Perbaik Purworejo in the academic year of 2016/2017.
