THE INFLUENCE OF THE INTENSITY OF UPLOADING INSTAGRAM STATUS ON READING COMPREHENSION

Abstract


This research is conducted to know whether there is a positive and significant influence of the intensity of uploading instagram status on reading comprehension at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Purworejo in the academic year of 2018/2019. The sample of this research is 35 students of the class IPS 3 at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Purworejo in the academic year of 2018/2019 by using purposive sampling technique. From the computation, it indicates that the mean score of students’ reading  comprehension  is  higher  than  the  mean  score  of  students’  intensity  of uploading instagram status (69.26 > 58.29). Then, the result of this research showed that students intensity of uploading instagram status gave positive and significance influence  toward  their  reading  comprehension.  It  is  proven  from  the  result  of correlation of coefficient product moment, showed that observed r (0.633) it included to the table interpretation between (0.60 - 0.799) in the level of strong interpretation. And based on the regression line between X and Y gave evidence that the correlation is positive, and also the significance value is more than (0.05) and the equation of the

regression is  69.39, so it is significant. Then, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was

accepted.  Thus,  this  research  it  can  be  concluded  that  there  is  a  positive  and

significance influence of the students’ intensity of  uploading instagram status and students’ reading comprehension at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 2

Purworejo is accepted in the level of strong interpretation.
