MAKING USE OF GEORGE ORWELL’S WHY I WRITE TO IMPLEMENT TBLT AND PAPERLESS-BASED LEARNING- TEACHING ACTIVITY IN TRANSLATION CLASS

Abstract


This research aims at describing how to implement TBLT and ICT-based learning-teaching

activity in translation class of English Education department and how to provide students with  the  English  language  skills  mastery  simultaneously.  The  description  includes  the learning-teaching activity in translation class which is held by using TBLT strategy in the classroom provided with ICT. Research method employed is mixed method (Hesse-Biber,

2010) by making use of marking system (Davies, 2004). How to implement TBLT and ICT-

based learning-teaching activity in translation class in English Education Department is the problem to be answered. George Orwell’s essay Why I Write is the text from which the data is collected. The characteristics of TBLT in which the translation class is held is based on what Nunan (2004) proposes. The research findings describe how to implement TBLT and ICT- based learning-teaching activity in translation class held by English Education Department of Purworejo Muhammadiyah University by using George Orwell’s essay Why I Write as the media to teach not only translation but also the English language skills. Such a class is held by using TBLT and provided with ICT.
